Welcome to "Auction Man"November 2009
Say a big hello to "Auction Man" our own in-house cartoon character, created and nutured by ourselves and drawn to perfection by Marek Jaguzki (www.mjcartoons.co.uk). Auction Man will be featuring in all of our future mailouts and has been inspired by comments and observations at a number of auction events over the last year.
We hoped it would make a few people laugh in this still somewhat depressed market. Any likeness to Phillip Arnold is entirely intentional!

Brendons Auctioneers Ltd was proud to assist with a charity auction as part of a fundraising evening in aid of the charity "Home Start Ealing" on Wednesday 7th October 2009 at the Battle of Britain Club, RAF Uxbridge. The event, sponsored by Barclays Bank PLC who matchfund any money raised, was a Race Night theme and the auction included star items such as a signed cricket bat as used by Andrew Strauss in the last Ashes series, Peter Crouch's signed shirt as worn in the England vs Slovenia match in early September and a late entry, offered by Chris Norman from the London Borough of Hillingdon, which was a signed cap worn by Jenson Button during his time with Honda.
The whole evening, that included generous raffle prizes from local sponsors, raised an outstanding £7000.
Homestart provides voluntary help and support to parents who may be struggling emotionally or physically with the demands of family life.
26.2 miles through the streets of London and he survived!April 2009
Managing partner and auctioneer, Phillip Arnold successfully completed the gruelling London Marathon on Sunday 26th April 2009, raising money on behalf of his chosen charity CTRT. The charity has been set up to raise funding to build a new cancer research and treatment centre in the grounds of Mount Vernon Hospital at Northwood in Middlesex. After finishing the race in 5 hours and 20 minutes, he complained that if it wasn’t for 29,000 other people, he would have won !!!!! Donations to his charity can still be made by logging onto www.justgiving.co.uk/brendons.

Announcing the launch of the Capital Auction GroupJanuary 2009
The professional established auction firms of Brendons, Sutton Kersh Binstock and Drivers & Norris have combined their expertise and knowledge to form a new initiative entitled: "Capital Auction Group."
This new format, put together by Phillip Arnold, Andrew Binstock and Graham Cull has been established to create a larger arena for the sale of properties by public auction, focussing mainly on Lots within the Greater London area. Each of the auction houses will retain their autonomy and their local area of expertise but will combine forces for advertising, promotion of properties and sale of properties via one combined auction every two months.
"This will be a unique way for smaller auction houses to compete with the big boys, saving time and effort for all potential purchasers, giving them a wider variety of choice, and also providing greater visibility for all our vendors through the delivery of a combined catalogue that will be sent out to a much wider targeted audience of subscribers" said Phillip Arnold of Brendons Auctioneers Ltd. "It enables us to keep our personal touch with all of our clients whilst improving our service offer to them."
The auctions will be held at the Danubius Hotel Regents Park, 18 Lodge Road, St Johns Wood, London NW8 7JT (opposite Lords Cricket Ground). The first event will take place on Wednesday 25th February 2009 starting at 12 noon.
Estate Agent of the Year 2008December 2008
Brendons Residential was awarded Estate Agent of the Year, Greater London for 2008, achieving the Gold standard award. The Brendon’s team attended the Estate Agent and Letting Agent Awards Ceremony along with 400 other top agents at the Marriott Hotel in Mayfair, and were presented their award by Phil Spencer. The award is determined by customer feedback on the service they had received and Brendons outshone many others in this area.
RICS spokesman Jeremy Leaf said in the RICS Business Magazine: "Being short-listed or actually winning one of these prestigious awards, which are widely recognised throughout the industry demonstrates publicly an agent's commitment to delivering the highest standards of service."
Brendons Auctioneers on BBC1November 2008
The newly launched property programme "Buy It, Sell It, Bank It" on BBC1 followed the successful story of a purchase at the Brendons Auction in June 2008 after an exciting bidding war between two interested parties. The property was a classic
auction lot, a 3 bedroom property in a good location in need of refurbishment, and was eventually finished to a very high standard by the purchaser who achieved a substantial return on his investment.
Ealing based property professional recognised for training excellencePress Release - May 2008
An Ealing based Auctioneer has secured a nationally-recognised industry qualification, and has joined the growing number of qualified agents across the UK to do so.
Mr Phillip Arnold of Brendons Auctioneers Ltd has passed the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFOPP) Technical Award in Real Property Auctioneering, the industry standard for all auctioneers working in this area. It is the required qualification for entry to the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA).
Phillip, who has been working in the auction business for a number of years said: "I decided to start my studies as I noted that not many auctioneers had gained an award of any merit and I am thrilled to have secured the Technical Award. For me, it is evidence of our professionalism and shows our clients that they are dealing with someone who is knowledgeable and that they can trust to do a good job."
NAVA operates alongside three of the property sector's other leading professional bodies: the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA), the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) and the Institution of Commercial & Business Agents (ICBA).
The NFOPP Awarding Body is accredited by the government's Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, and offers nationally recognised qualifications across all disciplines in the property sector.
Brendons Auctioneers First Golf DayOctober 2007
Brendons Auctioneers hosted a fun day out on 3rd October 2007 at the Stockley Park Gold Course in Uxbridge. The day started at 10am on the 18 hole Championship rated course with coffee and bacon rolls and then the competition started: full handicap stableford competition, longest drive and nearest the pin contest rounded off by a three
course dinner and prize presentation including a 'booby' prize. The event was well attended by local agents, property investors and other individuals associated with the property industry and we hope to repeat the event in the very near future.
